Shiva Iyer’s journey in the plumbing industry began when he did his civil engineering and joined a Chennai based company SN & Co in 1990 as a plumbing engineer. In fact, it was his years of experience working as a plumbing designer and project engineer with SN & Co that gave him the confidence to start his own venture in Kochi. At SN&Co, he worked on several major projects under the guidance of experienced engineers from abroad.

His passion for plumbing design and planning led him to focus on launching a company offering the most comprehensive plumbing solutions to clients. As plumbing is vital for buildings of all sizes and shapes, his company started providing plumbing solutions right from planning, designing, execution and maintenance.
“Plumbing is the most important part in a building. Technically sound plumbing is a must for any building. Poor plumbing can make a building totally inhabitable. As there is a lack of professionally trained plumbing engineers, we started the company to deliver state-of-the-art plumbing solutions to our clients,” he said. Right from drinking water supply systems to sewage management and firefighting, Shiva Iyer’s company provides the best plumbing services to all sorts of building constructions in the country. Though Essaarvee Plumbing Engineering started small, with just a few employees, it quickly grew as word of mouth spread about the company’s exceptional workmanship and customer service. The company, which has specialised wings for designing, installation and maintenance, now serves a diverse range of clients, including residential, commercial, and industrial.
Essaarvee has successfully completed plumbing projects in Cochin International Airport, Jio Infopark, Caspian Tech Park, Kovalam Palace, Greenfield Stadium at Kariavattom, Tamara Resort at Kodaikanal, Orange County Resort at Hampi. Shiva Iyer’s success is his strong work ethic, professional approach, attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction. As Shiva Iyer noticed that there are no institutions providing professional training in plumbing engineering, he is now focusing more on creating skilled engineers in the field of plumbing. He also devotes time to train young engineers who approach him seeking his professional expertise in learning more about plumbing. Shiv Iyer played a crucial role in helping the state government introduce plumbing as a general group in the curriculum of Kerala Vocational Higher Secondary in 2018 for the first time.
He represented Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) on the invitation of the Directorate of General Education to participate in the meeting on framing the curriculum. It was a team comprising Shiv Iyer that trained the first batch of teachers of vocational higher secondary in plumbing engineering.
Shiva Iyer is also the Chairman of Kerala Chapter of Indian Plumbing Association. He translated the book published by the association titled ‘A Guide to Best Plumbing Practices’ into Malayalam.
